US Jobs in Manufacturing Sector Highest Since April 1995

The American government recently reported that the manufacturing industry added 37,000 positions during July. The industry is experiencing the highest annual job growth in over 20 years. During the past year, U.S. manufacturing grew by 327,000 jobs, more than any 12-month span since 1995. Carolyn Lee, executive director of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Manufacturing Institute, commented, “With 157,000 jobs created in July, including 37,000 in manufacturing, this report shows tax reform and regulatory relief are continuing to deliver for America’s manufacturing workers.” In the past year, manufacturers in the U.S. produced close to $6 trillion in gross output, as stated by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. The largest categories were beverages, food, and tobacco products, which equaled $1 trillion; motor vehicles and parts, equaling $701 billion; and chemical products, reaching $837 billion.
